Our Club

The Kincardine & District Lions was chartered in June 1974, being sponsored by the Tiverton and District Lions Club. Membership varies with generally 65+ members including both men and women, one Charter member still active within the club - Lion Larry Bannerman. Since its Charter we estimate the Club's investment in the community to be in excess of two million dollars. The Club has been and is still very active within the community.

 

Sponsored Projects


The Lions Inclusionary Playground Programs.

In the past the Club has sponsored numerous school programs including the V.I.P. program (later DARE) which was sponsored continuously from its introduction to the area schools - anti drug and  bullying program.

We have supported and continue to support youth in many ways including Soccer, Baseball, Skating, Hockey, Basketball, Kinetic Knights, Bicycle Rodeos and other programs.

In the past we have supported, K.D.S.S. Knights Christmas toy & food drive, and continue to support events like School parent/teacher nights, BBQ's for schools and various other fundraising groups.

Local primary school proficiency awards and secondary school sport team sponsorships.

 

Donations


Donations have been made, and continue to be made, to projects within the community that are for the betterment of the community. These include; the Library, Hospital, Medical Clinic, Women's House of Bruce County, Community Living, Special Olympics, Minor Sports, Agricultural Society, Kincardine Community Services Christmas programs, Good Food Box, Kincardine Ministerial Food Bank and other local organizations.

Other donations are made to numerous national and international charitable organizations; for example; Lions Clubs International Foundation, Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guides, Lions Homes for the Deaf, M.S., C.N.I.B., Heart & Stroke, Canadian Cancer Society, Alzheimer's Society, Canadian Diabetes Association, Lions Foundation for Disaster Relief, Lions projects and charities.
 


Fundraising


Current fundraising is mainly from sales of food & beverages at our Canada Day and other BBQs, Annual Dinner Draw, Giant Yard Sale, manpower support of the Bruce Telecom Lighthouse Blues Festival, Kincardine Scottish Pipe Band’s Annual “Gathering of the Bands” and other community events.

Membership

If you're interested in volunteering, leading projects, networking and having fun - you can do all of this and more as a Lions club member. As a Lion, you'll perform local volunteer work to improve your community - and communities around the world. As a Lions club member, you'll join a local group of service-minded men and women who are doing local volunteer work to support your community - right now.
